Career mode will be relatively the same. When you start the game, you will be asked which region you want to begin with, (North America, Europe, Asia), after that, you choose the car you want to begin with. You will also be able to select options such as level of damage, driving assists, and of course the difficulty level. After you begin your career, you will be able to change regions, but at a certain cost. The region that you select has an impact on which cars you will be able to purchase. For example, if you choose Europe as your starting region, you will have access to cars such as BMW and Mercedes, yet you will not be able to purchase cars such as Nissans or Chevy’s, although progress through career will make them available to you. It is estimated that career mode will have around 70 hours of play, which is a decent amount.
Two new features that have been added to Forza 2 are Auction House, and photo mode. In Auction House, you will be able to take the cars you customized, tuned and painted in career mode and put them up for auction, or if your generous enough, you can gift them to friends. The Auction House will be a fun new feature that will definitely give the game some more depth. The other feature, photo mode, will enable you to take pictures while racing in the game. After the pictures are taken you can save them, and even upload them onto the internet for others to see. You be able to make videos as well. These are just a few features that have been added to this game.
As I said before, Forza 2 will have amazing customization and tuning. With every thing from turbo kits and superchargers to rims and custom paint jobs, there will be many things to make your car truly yours. You will be able to add several engine upgrades (including swapping engines with other cars), change drive trains, (which means that you will be able to take your FWD, and change it into AWD), add ground effects (body kits), wings (spoilers), change the brakes, suspension, and the list goes on! With over 300 cars in this game, you are sure to find something you like, whether you prefer customizing everyday cars, or you prefer exotics like Ferrari or Lamborghini, Forza 2 has it.
Forza 2 is also said to have an remarkable physics engine, which makes 360 calculations per second! When racing you will even be able to feel the bumps on the road and see that they have an effect on your car. The body kits that you apply to your car will also have an effect on your car. Things such as road and tire temperature will also have input on how your car handles. You will be able to view telemetry while racing, which will allow you to judge how your car is doing. The cars in Forza 2 will have damage, which means (depending on which settings you choose) that crashing into other cars will ruin your car. And not only visually, but also cause damage to the engine, steering, etc. And when something falls of a car, like a bumper, then it will stay on the track and become an obstacle to oncoming cars, and eventually you.
The A.I. (artificial intelligence) in Forza 2 is also spectacular. The AI will not be random, but there will be drivers in that game who will have different driving styles, some being more aggressive then others. They will respond to your every move, and will learn the way you drive and find ways to exploit your weaknesses. Dan Greenawalt, the lead producer of Forza 2, says "The A.I. drives the same car as the player. The behaviour is all built on a neural network system that we've been working on since the original game. It's totally different to anything else because it actually 'learns' the cars and the tracks by racing them.” He also says "We didn't train the system to check brake when it gets in front of you to psych you out...but it does."
From what I know so far, Forza Motorsport 2 sounds like a great game, which I plan to get the day it comes out. So whether your new to the series, or you’ve played the first one, I suggest that you check it out, when it comes out May 29th (North America).
